From his obituary: He received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
from Swarthmore College. However, he ultimately settled on a career in medicine.
After his college graduation, Dr. Hayes attended the University of Pennsylvania
School of Medicine and went on to complete his residency at Temple Hospital.
Earning his Board of Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he practiced at
Jefferson Hospital, Hahnemann Hospital, and in his later years, Pennsylvania
Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Hayes will be remembered for his heart of service and love of music. As a
participant in the Swarthmore Gospel College Choir, he performed various song
selections, one of his favorites being “Gracious Good Shepherd.” Known for his
baritone voice, he inspired the hearts of those who listened. He loved encouraging
others to follow their dreams. He valued hard work and dedication as he
continuously invested himself in helping people achieve their goals.
